Peer Review

As far as the evaluation process for articles submitted to REI - Revista de Educação do UNIDEAU is concerned, it is characterized by a dual evaluation system, comprising two sequential stages: desk review and evaluation by the Double Blind Review System.

During the desk review, the editors anonymously analyze the articles received to assess their relevance to the scope of the journal and their potential to make a significant contribution to knowledge in the journal's field of study. If necessary, members of the scientific committee are involved in the process by the editors.

When a submitted paper does not meet the journal's policies, the authors are informed of the decision within thirty days of submission. Articles approved at the desk review stage are forwarded to two experts from the journal's panel of referees for evaluation in the Double Blind Review System, or to external researchers chosen for their experience in the article's field of study.

In this system, both authors and reviewers remain anonymous during the evaluation process.

Anonymous Authors: Authors submit their articles without revealing their identities to the reviewers. This means that the reviewers do not know the authors' names, affiliation institutions or any other information that could identify them.

Anonymous reviewers: Similarly, reviewers carry out the evaluation without their identity being revealed to the authors. This seeks to ensure impartiality, eliminating potential bias associated with reputation, affiliation or other factors that are not directly related to the merit of the work.

The referees are professors and researchers associated with stricto sensu postgraduate programs at national or foreign educational institutions. They evaluate the articles taking into account the relevance of the topic, the writing, the logical linking of the theoretical review with the use of appropriate references, the adequacy of the methodological procedures, the depth and consistency of the analysis, the outline of the conclusions and the relevance of the contributions, using a pre-defined form provided to the reviewers. This phase of the evaluation can last up to a month, and upon completion, the authors are informed of the editorial decision.

What are the possible outcomes? After evaluation, the Editor will make one of the following decisions:

  1. Accepted;
  2. Minor corrections;
  3. Corrections required;
  4. Rejected.

After the requested corrections have been made and checked by the referees and editors, the articles are proofread for spelling, grammar and compliance with the journal's standards, as well as final editing of the document.
